Purchasing Through This Online Shop

If the proxy purchasing service is displayed and the item is shown as available for purchase, you may proceed with your order directly through this official online shop.

Any “Free Shipping” offer displayed in our official online shop applies only to delivery from our shop to the proxy company’s warehouse in Japan. International shipping, proxy service fees, customs duties, import taxes and any other related charges are not included and will be charged separately by the proxy company or other relevant parties.

We are unable to confirm, change or assist with proxy service fees, international shipping charges, shipping methods, customs duties, import taxes, customs procedures or the status of international delivery. Please refer to the information provided by the proxy purchasing service displayed during the ordering process.

Prices shown on this website are the product prices set by the shop. Any “tax included” notation displayed by the Japanese shop system relates to domestic price display requirements and does not mean that taxes or charges imposed by the destination country are included.

Before ordering, please also confirm that the item can be imported for personal use and received at your delivery address, and check any procedures, restrictions and charges that may apply. For authoritative information on customs clearance and import requirements, please contact the customs authority in your country or region.

Returns, Exchanges & Delivery Issues

For orders placed through a proxy purchasing service, our shop ships the item to the address in Japan designated by the proxy purchasing company. Delivery from our shop to the proxy purchasing company is considered complete once the item has been received at the designated address.

We do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect size selection or other customer-related reasons.

If you receive an item different from the one ordered, or if the item is defective, incomplete or damaged, please keep the item and all original packaging materials and contact the proxy purchasing service you used. Please also contact the proxy purchasing service if you suspect that the item was lost or damaged during international shipping.

Returns, exchanges, refunds and international shipping issues are handled in accordance with the terms and procedures of the relevant proxy purchasing service. Our shop cannot accept items returned directly by customers outside Japan or issue refunds directly to them.

If the proxy purchasing company contacts us regarding an incorrect item sent by our shop or a defect that was already present when the item was delivered to the proxy purchasing company, we will investigate the matter and respond accordingly.

Repairs and Alterations

Repairs or alterations requested after an item has been delivered outside Japan are not included in the standard return or exchange services provided by proxy purchasing services.

Whether we can accept a repair or alteration request will be determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the condition of the item, the work required, the available shipping methods and the terms of the proxy purchasing service.

Please contact the proxy purchasing service you used before taking any further action. Do not send an item directly to our shop without prior instructions.

Repair charges, international shipping costs, proxy service fees, customs duties and other related expenses may apply. Depending on the item and circumstances, we may be unable to accept the repair or alteration request.

Where to Direct Enquiries

For enquiries made after placing an order regarding returns, exchanges, refunds, defective, incomplete or damaged items, delivery issues, repairs or alterations, please first contact the proxy purchasing service you used.

The proxy purchasing company will contact our shop if our confirmation or assistance is required. Please do not return an item directly to our shop before receiving instructions from the proxy purchasing service.

For questions or consultations about an item before purchase, or for enquiries about custom orders, you may continue to contact our shop directly as before.

Use and Storage of Products

Please wear, wash and store each item in accordance with the product page, fibre-content or care label, and any care instructions enclosed with the item.

We cannot compensate for damage caused by use contrary to the care instructions, force exceeding the strength of the material, unsuitable washing or storage, alterations or repairs performed by the customer, or normal wear and changes over time.

Please take care to prevent cords, belts and similar parts from becoming wrapped around a child or pet. Store small accessories appropriately to prevent accidental swallowing or similar incidents.

Materials and Fibre Content

Some of our products are made from vintage kimono, obi or other fabrics whose original fibre-content labels are no longer available.

Where stated on a product page, we use a burn test as a simple method of identifying the material. A burn test is not a laboratory analysis and cannot establish the exact fibre composition or the proportions in a blended fabric.

Material descriptions are based on the information and test results available to us. Unless a reliable original label or other conclusive information is available, we do not guarantee that a fabric is 100% silk. Please refer to the material information provided on each product page.

Custom Orders for Outside Japan

Effective date: 2026-08-25

Custom orders from customers outside Japan are accepted only through minne’s official proxy purchasing services.
We cannot accept international custom orders or customer-specific private listings through this our official online shop or Creema.

If you are interested in placing a custom order, please contact us directly before making a purchase. Once the design, specifications, price and production schedule have been confirmed through consultation, we will create a private minne listing specifically for you.

Please note that some proxy purchasing services may not support private listings. Depending on your region and the services available to you, we may therefore be unable to accept your custom order.

These terms apply in addition to the general terms for ordering from outside Japan set out above.

Unless otherwise stated below, payment, cancellation, refunds, returns, repairs, delivery to the proxy purchasing company’s warehouse in Japan and subsequent international shipping are handled in accordance with the general provisions above and the terms of minne and the relevant proxy purchasing service.

You may contact our shop directly to discuss kimono materials, designs, specifications and other details before placing an order and during production. Formal procedures relating to payment, cancellation, refunds and shipping must be carried out through minne and the proxy purchasing service.

Kimono Materials Available for Made-to-Order Items

For made-to-order requests from customers outside Japan, we accept only kimono selected from our shop’s own inventory.

We do not accept new made-to-order requests using a kimono supplied by a customer outside Japan. This includes kimono sent directly to our shop from outside Japan.

Transitional Arrangements for Kimono Already Entrusted to Us

This revised policy applies to new requests accepted on or after the effective date stated above.

A customer-supplied kimono that was already entrusted to and received by our shop before the effective date is not subject to the new restriction on customer-supplied kimono.

Such kimono will be handled in accordance with the terms agreed when we accepted them or any terms subsequently agreed individually with the customer.

These revised terms do not automatically replace the terms previously agreed for a kimono already in our possession. Any change to those terms will apply only after it has been discussed with and agreed to by the customer.

Production Process and Irreversible Alteration of the Kimono

After its condition has been checked, a kimono to be used as material is unstitched, washed or rinsed in water where appropriate, pressed, cut and sewn.

Washing or rinsing in water is carried out only where preliminary testing indicates that it can be done.

Processes such as unstitching and cutting a kimono cannot be reversed.

Production normally begins after the proxy purchasing company has placed the order through minne and minne has confirmed payment.

Once production has begun, we generally cannot restore the material to its original kimono form, change the agreed production details or accept cancellation for reasons of customer preference.

Risks Inherent in Vintage Kimono

Vintage kimono may have discolouration, stains, weakened fabric, holes, shrinkage, colour loss, peeling gold decoration or other deterioration that is not visible from the outside and becomes apparent only after unstitching or washing.

These conditions inherent in the material may be impossible to predict even after the usual preliminary inspection.

If hidden deterioration is discovered, we may propose changing the placement of the pattern or the design, adding another fabric, replacing the kimono material or taking another approach.

Where a significant change to the agreed design or material is required, we will consult you before proceeding.

Where the original plan can be followed with adjustments that do not affect the quality or overall appearance of the completed item, we may proceed with those adjustments at our discretion.

Discolouration, damage, shrinkage, colour loss or similar issues arising from the inherent deterioration or characteristics of a vintage kimono are not considered a failure on the part of our shop where we have exercised reasonable care.

When Production Cannot Continue

If serious deterioration becomes apparent after unstitching or washing, or if production cannot continue for another reason, we may propose a substitute kimono from our shop’s inventory.

When selecting a substitute, we will consider factors such as the type of kimono, the condition and characteristics of the fabric, the colours and the general impression of the pattern.

Every kimono differs in condition and design. We therefore cannot guarantee a substitute matching every feature of the original material, including the artist or maker, place of production, family crest, exact colours or pattern, or rarity.

We will not proceed with substitute material without your agreement.

If you accept the proposed substitute, production will continue under the existing order. We will remake the item where necessary without an additional production charge arising solely from the substitution. No refund will be made solely because the agreed substitute material is used.

If you do not accept the proposed substitute and the original order cannot be completed, we will cancel the made-to-order order and initiate a refund of the price of the made-to-order item through minne and the relevant proxy purchasing service.

Our shop will not make a separate payment for the value of the original kimono material, as kimono used for new made-to-order requests from customers outside Japan are owned by our shop.

Proxy purchasing fees, service fees, exchange-rate differences, international shipping charges and other amounts charged by the proxy purchasing service are governed by that service’s own terms. They are not received or refunded directly by our shop.

Cancellation Requested by the Customer

Once an order has been placed and production has begun, cancellation for reasons of customer preference is generally not accepted.

If you have an unavoidable reason for requesting cancellation, please first contact the proxy purchasing service you used.

We will review the stage of production and determine whether cancellation or any refund is possible under the terms and systems of minne and the proxy purchasing service.

Where permitted by law and supported by the relevant payment system, work already completed, materials already used and other reasonable costs incurred before cancellation may be taken into account when determining any refund.

As partial refunds may not be supported, we may be unable to accept cancellation once production has begun.

Our shop cannot cancel or refund the transaction directly with a customer outside Japan.

Remaining Fabric

How the remaining fabric will be handled must be decided before the made-to-order order is placed.

You may choose one of the following options:

1. Have the remaining fabric returned together with the completed item.

2. Transfer the remaining fabric to our shop free of charge.

3. Use the remaining fabric for additional made-to-order work agreed and ordered at the same time, subject to confirmation that sufficient suitable fabric is available.

If you expressly request the return of the remaining fabric, it will be described as part of the contents of the made-to-order listing and sent together with the completed item to the proxy purchasing company’s warehouse in Japan.

If no return or additional use of the remaining fabric has been expressly agreed before the order is placed, the remaining fabric will belong to our shop.

Remaining fabric transferred to or retained by our shop may be reused for another product or made-to-order item, or disposed of at our discretion. This is not a purchase or trade-in, and no payment will be made.

The selected option cannot be changed after the order has been placed.

We do not provide temporary or indefinite storage of remaining fabric for customers outside Japan. We also cannot accept a later request to send remaining fabric separately after the completed item has been dispatched.

Payment and Dispatch

Made-to-order items for customers outside Japan must be ordered through minne using an available official proxy purchasing service.

We normally begin production after the proxy purchasing company has placed the order through minne and minne has confirmed payment.

Payment methods and payment procedures are determined by minne and the proxy purchasing service. We cannot accept direct payment from customers outside Japan.

The completed item will be sent to the address in Japan designated in the proxy purchasing company’s minne order. Our shop will not ship the completed item directly to the customer outside Japan.

International dispatch from Japan, customs clearance, duties, taxes and other import procedures will be handled in accordance with the terms and procedures of the proxy purchasing service, as explained in the general international ordering provisions above.

Natural Disasters and Other Events Beyond Our Control

If production or dispatch is delayed or becomes impossible because of an earthquake, flood, storm, other natural disaster, war, civil war or another event beyond our reasonable control, we will inform you and discuss an appropriate response.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include a revised production schedule, the use of substitute material or cancellation of the order.

If the order is cancelled, we will initiate the applicable refund through minne and the proxy purchasing service. Our shop will not be liable for additional loss that is not attributable to our shop.
